As real estate agents, it’s part of our job to ask for referrals. But seriously, WHY would you want to do that and what is the best way to go about it?
First the why. You may not know this, but, um, let’s just say there’s a huge variation in competence, experience and work habits among real estate agents. So if you don’t tell your friend or colleague who’s thinking about buying or selling that you know who they should call, they may well end up with the wrong agent. Also, referred clients get special treatment — we bend over backwards to make sure they are thrilled with their experience, otherwise we risk making you look bad!
On a side note, all Vanguard Realty agents are REALTORs, members of the local and national associations. As such, we adhere to a code of ethics that extends well beyond what’s required by state law.
Now the how. If you’re talking to a friend or colleague who needs real estate advice, tell them you know someone with alot of experience and knowledge, and ask if it would be alright if we contact them. Then call, text or email your agent with the person’s contact info, and I’ll follow up right away. It’s a win-win-win: you get the satisfaction of knowing they will be really well looked-after, they get the best possible advice, and us… we get to do our job!
